R.I.P. Picture Frame
Out of curiosity, I did some research one day on how old the picture frame concept is.
According to Google — “People have been using border elements and frames to display art for roughly 2,000 years, but the modern practice of using movable, decorative frames specifically to highlight artwork inside domestic homes really took off during the Italian Renaissance in the 14th and 15th centuries.”
We believe the picture frame should be retired; in most cases, it no longer fits well in a modern home or office.
Most companies today will take your uploaded image, print it, put it in a frame, and send it back to you.
But not us, we're different!
Why is Handcraft’d by Design so anti-picture frame? We have a few reasons.
- They’re rather big and bulky.
- In many cases, the frame competes for the viewer’s attention.
- They’re expensive. Most of the time, the frame is the most expensive part of your display.
At Handcraft’d by Design, we created Foto Blocks. Our graphic arts team takes photos from your phone, tablet, or camera and boosts color, contrast, and brightness so your images really pop! We can also remove distractions or flaws you’d like to skip.
Once you approve the final look, we optimize it for print and format it for the best results. Then we print your image on high-quality vinyl, mount it on a solid base, and let you hang it quickly with provided hole-free applicators—so viewers see only what you want, with no wasted space or cost.
